Joomla, (the open source web content management system) http://www.joomla.org/ takes quite a bit of learning how to set it up on a host and then go on with templates and add-ons to start assembling the site content. Quite a lot of trial and error but options are:
- Set up a local host on your own desktop - quite complex at first but a good way to learn Joomla before launching onto a 3rd party host
- Go straight for either free (I am using 000webhost) or paid for such as i-host, godaddy etc
There is a good guide on installing local host - involves installing XAMPP as a local server (which bundles MYSQL, php, apache ) all GNU open source.
