Revit 2015/16 and perspective line removal

One of the enhancements in 2015 R2 is toggling between perspective and parallel views

BUT it puzzled me why
this option was greyed out in many views until I set new cameras and re-did the view. Toggle to Parallel View (and back to Perspective) then becomes available. I dont know if this is legacy views that pre date R2 or what but it seemed to be the fix.

I had a number of perspectives in a project that I wanted to show on sheets as flat colour in grey shaded. Revit still has few object and drafting editing functions in Perspective and has long been on the wish list.

But Toggle to Parallel gets round this! Setting up a new Perspective enables (if you have R2 and are on subscription) toggle back to parallel and all editing functions are available.  The three stages -

Starting with perspective several lines at joins between walls instances and roof elements that need removing.

Toggle to Parallel and start to remove lines
(with the linework (LW) tool set to invisible.

You can even align all the textures simply by (as in an elevations) Align, tabbing over brickwork joints aligning them for continuous coursing over the instance join.

Toggle back to Perspective

All gone!
