This method relates the cutting plane of the 3D cutaway to the Section line in plan view.
First make sure this section line is named something identifiable.
Then create a new 3D

| Make the 3D active and with the navigation wheel | (bottom RH | flyout menu) choose the named section under orient to view |

| This gives a flat view cuttaway. Then just use the view | cube to spin to the view you want |
If you move the section line to a different cut line
it doesn't auto update the oriented view. Go back to the Nav Wheel > orient to view again and re-spin in 3D (am trying this in 2013 not sure if 2014 cuts this out)
